Priya Velusami is the founder of Pri Pri, a collection of upcycled accessories and kidswear for those who love colour, style and sustainability.
Pri Pri was born out of Priya’s love for Indian clothing. The luxurious fabrics and rich colours always appealed to her and she treasures an early memory of Patti, her Indian grandmother, teaching her how to use a sewing machine. When her niece was born, Priya decided to make her little party dresses out of her mum’s old saris. This project evolved into Pri Pri. All pieces are upcycled using waste fabric from saris otherwise destined for landfill, ensuring nothing is wasted, and every piece is hand-finished. Priya now works with the Animedh Charitable Trust - a social initiative in India that helps to upskill and empower underprivileged women with training in tailoring – and is proud that every Pri Pri piece helps to provide and income to and empower women to transform their lives.
